Early in April, Councillor Angela Cox resigned from the Town Council, because of the increasing demands of her business. As there had been no petition for a by-election, the council sought to co-opt a new member to fill the vacancy and four applications were duly received. The four were interviewed on 21st May, and the person selected to fill the vacancy was Mr Richard Walker, a former member of the council.
Richard Walker was originally elected to the council at the by-election of 14th September 2006, but lost his seat at the subsequent election of 3rd May 2007. (see below)
